Finsbury Health Centre funding clarification

EC1 New Deal for Communities would like to clarify its position on the proposal to invest £2.4 million of funding in the Finsbury Health Centre.

Whilst it is a potentially worthwhile idea, after discussions with NHS Islington, they have reached the conclusion that the money would not be enough to give them the funding they need, which is estimated at around £9 million. In addition to this, our funding needs to be spent in the coming year and the NHS is not in a position to confirm the project can go ahead and be delivered within this limited timeframe. We therefore cannot consider this idea further, but do hope that there is a positive future for the building.

Our board of residents and local service providers is considering a number of well-developed projects for our remaining capital funding. These projects range from improvements to community facilities and schemes to improve the streets, parks and estates in EC1.

Our final year delivery plan will outline how the money will be spent and this will submitted to central government in February. Information will be available on our website www.yourec1.com and in the YOUR EC1 magazine.
