Free fun at Three Corners

Free fun at Three Corners N’Dea (6), Orchid (6) and Jael (3) Balgobin at the Three Corners Fun Day

Free fun at Three Corners Adventure Playground drew hundreds of families to the Three Corners Fun Day on Saturday (22 August). Behind-the-scene tours of the unfinished new Three Corners Centre were on offer in between the face painting, hat-making, massage, circus skills workshops and BMX demonstrations. Whittington Steel Band, EC1 Music Project and Rhythms of the City samba band provided a summer soundtrack to compliment the beautiful summer’s day.

The £2.4 million centre, which will open later in the year, is funded by EC1 New Deal for Communities, Islington Council and the Learning and Skills Council and will include a youth club and support services for young people, indoor play facilities and an adult learning centre – the first of its kind in the south of Islington.

Islington Council's Executive Member for Children and Young People, Cllr Paula Belford said:

"The Three Corners development is really starting to take shape now. Once it's complete, local children and teenagers will have access to a wider range of much needed activities, both indoors and out. Adults in this part of the borough will also have new and important resources available to them that will contribute to the council's effort to tackle worklessness in Islington."
