NDC enters finishing straight New EC1 NDC Cheif Executive Kirby Swales

Incoming NDC Chief Executive Kirby Swales says investment in regeneration in EC1 is about to enter its most exciting phase.

With just 21months of the 10-year NDC programme remaining, highlights to come include the opening of the new Three Corners Centre and commencement of work to refurbish Ironmonger Row Baths.

Kirby said:

"After eight years there have been some highly celebrated positive changes to this area. But I'm really looking forward to what we can achieve in these remaining months.

"We'll be investing more than £12 million and it's going to impact everyone who lives here.

"We'll be leaving EC1 with a legacy of outstanding community facilities; significantly improved parks and open spaces; and what we hope is a benchmark for some much needed improvements in public services."

In October this year the NDC will produce a detailed plan for what happens once the programme is finished in March 2011 and how some of its initiatives are going to be maintained in the future.
