A Whitecross Christmas

A Whitecross Christmas Carol singing at Whitecross Street Market Christmas Festival

Whitecross Street market got into the festive spirit last week, with a two day Christmas festival.

The Whitecross Street Christmas Festival, funded by EC1 New Deal for Communities and run by Islington Council, featured street entertainers, carol singers and children's rides in nearby Fortune Park, as well as lots of stalls selling Christmas treats.

Father Christmas and EC1 New Deal for Communities' board member Troy Gallagher were on hand to switch on the Christmas tree lights.

Troy Gallagher said:
"It was great to see so many people out supporting the Whitecross Street Christmas Festival. The variety of market stalls, carol singing and funfair rides meant there really was something for everyone."

Cllr Lucy Watt, Islington Council's Executive Member for Business said:
"Whitecross Street, one of Islington's brilliant markets, has gone from strength to strength in recent years and it’s even better with a sprinkling of extra Christmas cheer."

If you missed the Christmas Festival, there are weekly markets on Whitecross Street every Thursday and Friday. Find out more at the Whitecross Street website.
