Our strategy

To achieve our aims will require more than merely spending £52.9m of government funding over 10 years. The partnership has agreed a ‘core strategy’ that makes clear our intention to achieve our aims though a combination of:

Project funding

• Investing in the local infrastructure funding improvements to parks, streets, housing estate common areas and other community facilities.

• Supporting new services or service enhancements that address local issues and/or fill current gaps in service provision.

• Piloting new ways of doing things that can form the basis of future mainstream service delivery, providing better or more outputs for no extra cost.

Targeted support

• Developing targeted, tailored, cross-cutting interventions with individuals, families, communities of interest and localities

Influencing and brokering

• Developing sustainable, strategic partnerships with (and between) key service providers.

• Improving and joining-up mainstream service provision to meet local needs, ensuring that ‘ownership’ of service improvements is in the right place.

Community engagement

• Creating mechanisms for people to get involved in EC1 planning and projects and, more widely, helping and encouraging local people to take an active role in the decisions that affect their, their families’ and their community's lives.

• Acting to change the relationships between citizens and service providers, to create mutual respect, understanding and trust.

• Developing mechanisms for succession that will ensure long-term sustainability of benefits.
