EC1 is bursting with fun things for children and young people to do this summer.

The newly refurbished Drum Youth Works on Whitecross Street is open throughout the summer. Young people can drop in plan their own activities and trips with youth workers. Current activities include football, cooking and nail art.

Drum Sexual Health Clinic is also open for advice (testing, treatment and contraception).

For ages 8-16

FREE

EC1 Community Sports coach runs football, cricket, basketball, cheerleading, athletics and table tennis sessions on EC1 estates and parks and at Finsbury Leisure Centre. No need to book - just turn up in your sports clothes and trainers! Don't forget to bring water.

EC1 Music Project

Mon- Fri, 3.30-6.30pm (under 14s) or 7-9pm (over 14s)

Annual membership £4-£5 for EC1 residents

EC1 Music Project is open every evening for production and recording sessions, band rehearsals (book in advance) and drop-in sessions where members can play with the Wii, go on the internet and use the musical facilities. Also, book in piano, guitar and drums lessons, production courses and girl band and boy band workshops.

Day trips are also planned:

Golden Lane Campus Children’s Centre is open on Saturdays from 10am-12pm. Come down for free stay and play sessions with lots of toys and indoor and outdoor space. Open all summer apart from the last two weeks of August.

Drop by the Islington Boat Club for water-based adventure such as canoeing, sailing, and power boating.

The Boat Club is closed during the week of 17-21 August for a residential trip to the Isle of Wight (fully booked).

Three Corners’ state-of-the-art new paintbuilding is opening in the autumn – but the adventure playground is still open throughout the summer for creative and sporting activities such as painting, cooking, writing, relay races, football and swimming trips. All children must be registered by parents.

There’s always lots happening at Toffee Park Adventure Playground. There's outdoor fun on the huge climbing frame, sports and gardening and indoor activities like arts and crafts, cooking and computer games. Days out are planned to Coram’s Fields, bowling and the cinema throughout the summer and a camping trip to the countryside is planned for August.
