EC1 screen stars
Local resident Nicola Cumiskey who stars in the film A film about the EC1 area featuring local residents as the leading stars is launched today.
Produced by EC1 New Deal for Communities, the film documents the work that has been done to improve the area since the government-funded programme started in April 2001.
It highlights a number of achievements as seen through the eyes of people that live in the EC1 area including the award-winning EC1 Connect service, Whitecross Street market and the transformation of Radnor Street Gardens and Spa Fields.
EC1 resident Nicola Cumiskey who lives on the Chadworth Estate, off Lever Street helped to make the film and she said:
“I was really pleased to be involved. The work that’s been done to improve my estate is fantastic. It was really grim before – a bit like a prison exercise yard but now it’s a place I’m proud to call home.”
Chair of the EC1 New Deal for Communities board, Matthew Humphreys said: “We want to show how our work has had an impact on the people who live and work here. The best way to do that is to show them telling their story.”
Copies on DVD are available from EC1 New Deal for Communities, telephone 0203 142 5053.
