Who we are

EC1 New Deal for Communities (NDC) is an unincorporated, community-led partnership of residents, public sector service providers, voluntary and community organisations and businesses. It is one of thirty-nine NDC partnership across England that has received government funding over a ten-year period to kick-start the ‘turn around’ of multiply-deprived neighbourhoods comprising around 5,000 households.

EC1 NDC was awarded £52.9m for the period 1 April 2001 to 31 March 2011. It covers an area of around 4,800 households in the south of the London Borough of Islington, comprising most of the residential areas of Bunhill ward and a smaller part of Clerkenwell ward. The neighbourhood was selected for inclusion in the NDC programme due the high levels of multiple deprivations that existed in the area, particularly in respect of employment, educational attainment, health, housing and the environment.

The EC1 New Deal for Communities programme is managed by regeneration consultancy Renaisi.
